Swingin’ Moves

by Ana on July 18, 2009

Rip it up by Bill Haley

The start of swing, the free flowing fun in dance. The creativeness in expression of music felt through a person’s body, the soul, the celebration of life and music combined.

Do you express yourself through music, like this today?

Love that song. ;)

I use music to heighten my emotions and moods, but I don’t express myself through it, unless you include playing certain songs loudly as a “do not disturb” signal to the family! :)

I’m not talented enough to actually play anything.

Also, I wish I could dance like the people in that vid. *sigh*

Love to dance. My father taught me a few swing moves, but not nearly as complicated as the ones on the video. Now I will just turn up the stereo and dance with my own children.

Hey Melvin,
Appreciate you stopping by. :)
Glad that you express yourself, in such a way. Of course always different and unique to you. :)

Hello Adam,
So nice to see you here.
I am glad that you enjoy the song.
Playing certain songs loudly to your family, definetly counts as self expression. ;)
Ah, what makes you think your not talented enough to play anything? I am sure you have a talent for something. It is perhaps just waiting in the wings. For your touch, of course. :D
Grab a partner, or a brush/mop (anything goes) and get practising. :) You’ll be swingin’ in no time, and you don’t have to in any way copy, or be such a pro like them. Swingin’ in your own way will definetly be much more fun. Do let me know if you do get into it, won’t you. ;)

Hey JLC,
Nice to see you. :)
Happy to know you enjoy dancing, and share it so with your own children. That must feel one the greatest joys.

So far I’ve tried guitars, pianos, and a variety of wind instruments. No joy. And I can’t sing to save my life. ;-)

I like to think I have a good ear for music, but the fingers and vocal chords? Not so much lol

As for dancing, it’s something I’d like to get into, but never got around to it. :-)

I’ll let you know if I become magically talented overnight lol

Hello Adam, :)
Seems like you have given each a good go.
Did you enjoy playing them?
I tend to get into musical instruments when I have the motion for it, and then I either just play anything or go by a book. (Beginners Guide type)
If you have a good ear for music, then that could be your talent right there. :)
Is there any particurlar kind of dancing that you’d like to get into? Or just dance to whatever rocks your boat at the time.
You are definetly talented, nonetheless. Perhaps not in the musically inclined way, but still talented in other ways. :)

I enjoyed the noises they made when OTHER people played them. ;)
I’m more of an appreciator than a creator.

I’d quite like to learn to swing dance, as well as a few ballroom dances. I can be graceful when I set my mind to it lol ;)

Adam,
That is good that you know what you are aware of, and are appreciative of this.
Happy dancing, when you set your mind to it. :)
