Seeing as a lot of writers are participating in the Novel National Writing Month this November, the chain is opened to everyone on the subject of writing. Those participating in the chain and in NaNo make the post relative to their current NaNo experience and goals. For those not participating in the November Novel National Writing Month, we get the opportunity to share our writers survival list relating to our own writing experiences.

Seeing as I am multi-functional being as I enjoy engaging in all types of experience depending on how I feel in the moment, I thought I’d share a Writers Survival list in regards to using writing as an example as an expression of oneself in that moment. This list also relates to the whole experience of living more present in each experience, and just being honest with how you are feeling in this precise moment, and how you choose to express and share that creation of art from within, to others.

Ana’s Writing Survival List -Expressing yourself and experiences as they are

  • Being – As you are, how you feel, what’s going on, grounded in this experience. Aware of that, but without taking too much focus on it and just being appreciative of the overall moment consisting of everything as it is, without judgement or analysis.
  • Truth – Stems from being in that moment and all that is going on within you and around. You don’t need to talk to understand the truth of the current moment, as you can just see it for what it is and from that capture. A different means to express the experience through the truth of that moment, can be projected in various ways i.e. a painting, a poem, a craft, a picture etc.
  • Awareness - Encapsulates being and truth and reasonates with how you perceive the moment as it is. Brings insight to what’s going on and how you feel. You can reach new levels of awakening by being aware of how you are feeling and what is going on around you, and in people.

The one thing that links all these three together to the moment of now is appreciation no matter what it is, and how you are feeling. Being appreciative of who you are, as you are and each experience you engage in, is one of the most liberating and truthful things you could ever do, for where you are. :)

I think your list sums it up for any profession. As a photographer (my real job) these are elements of self that tend to escape in favor of actually making money. Then when I remember, I feel better about myself, my art and my business as a whole. Kudos for noting them and reminding us all!

Dear Aimee,
Lovely to see you here once again.
Glad that you see it for what it is. :) I think that is ultimatetly why we are here, to just be, experience and express ourselfs. Happy to know that it helps. :)

Great list Ana. I’ve participated in AEDM and AED of the year .. but although I am a published author of short stories, I have not managed to meet the challenge of writing something every day. At least something that I’m really happy with. I think I am less forgiving as an artist than I am as a writer. Strange that!?

Dear the GyPsY,
Thanks for stopping by. :)
You are writing something writing now. Do you think perhaps you are thinking too much on what to write? Sometimes this can be a distraction from our real selfs underneath the layers we try and create on the outside. View my latest post for this, it will bring a clearer awareness forth.
There is also the fact that we have moments for everything, and that sometimes one expression may not be the right channel for our voice at that one moment-and then comes the trying and the ‘being hard on yourself’ part. That can be prevented just by simply accepting that this is not the moment for that expression, but can be an opening for so many others. It’s a wonderful journey of discovery that, the experiences we go through.
Kind Regards

(Off topic of your great post here… yes, certainly you CAN embroider a gift quickly. I had just put my project aside…for months. And the cute comment from Gretta was really sweet…she’s my 18 year old daughter!)

Thank you so much for stopping by. I am intrigued by your place over here and will come back again!

Dear KarenLR,
It is good to see you here. :)
I did eventually finish the embroidery gift a day/night before, though it cost me a whole night to finish it, was very much worth it. You can see the finished result at the following link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/34014572@N04/4135346435/
And thank you for stopping by too! :)

Hi Ana!
I just had to pop in and say thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog. I agree ~ back in the old days it was ‘normal’ for people to reuse their materials and belongings. I was only just having that conversation with a friend a couple of days ago!
I love how they’d take their butter container down to the store for refilling, or leave the same bucket out the front of their home every morning to be refilled my the milk man. I really appreciate that you ‘get’ what I’m doing with reusing materials to make art. Thanks so much for stopping by!
And BEAUTIFUL words on your blog!

Dear Chrissy,
Thank you for stopping by.
It is quite amazing that the cycle of re-use is returning, though it is a little bit sad considering it took a whole load of more than 50 years to return.
Amazing world isn’t it, and even more the society we live in.
I enjoyed visiting your blog-as I appreciate and see what you are doing.
I’m glad we connected and you returned my visit. :)
Happy December to you dear friend.

Izzat Aziz,
Thank you. I think the level of information of awareness depends on what the individual feels to take in at that moment.

You’re absolutely right about this – “Being appreciative of who you are, as you are and each experience you engage in, is one of the most liberating and truthful things you could ever do.” Sometimes it’s hard to stick to that mentality, but in the end it is what gets us out of the tougher times. Oh, and that mini chocolate cake looks delicious! -Mike

Dear Portland moving companies, (Mike)
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving a message. :)
I think this mentality is truly who we are underneath all the layers-and we should be very much grateful for that, even in the tougher times.
Thank you so much for the comment on the mini chocolate cake. There is a recipe there for you to experiment if you wish. :)
All the best.

I love this list – expressed as a true artist, and in a most creative manner. My favourite would be the first one, because if we take the time to be who we are, truth and everything else would follow.
